Marjorie Scaffa, Ph.D., OT/L, LPC – Core Faculty

Dr. Scaffa is a licensed professional counselor with masters’ degrees in clinical mental health counseling from the University of South Alabama, and occupational therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University. She received a Ph.D. in public/community health education from the University of Maryland. Most recently, before joining the faculty at the SBRMC family medicine residency program, Dr. Scaffa served as the health and wellness counselor for medical students at the University of South Alabama. Prior to that, she was the founding chairperson of the occupational therapy program at the University of South Alabama and remains Professor Emeritus in that department. Currently, Dr. Scaffa is an adjunct professor of clinical mental health counseling at South Alabama and has taught courses in addictions, trauma and counseling older adults. She has made numerous presentations at international and national conferences, and authored peer reviewed papers and textbooks on a variety of health promotion, community based practice and mental health topics. Her Hobbies include traveling, nature walks, dancing and writing.
